Pros

Cons

  • Only holds while the rope is under load.
  • With too few turns it can slip.

Holding and untying

Grips under load. Without load it loosens and unties easily.

Suitable rope

Sturdy rope. With smooth rope, add more turns.

Common mistake

Too few turns around its own part. Then it can slip.

How to check it

At least three turns, close to the tree. Pull hard: it should grip.
