Pros

  • Holds well and hardly slips, even in smooth rope.
  • Easy to check: two matching knots lie against each other.

Cons

  • After load it's often very hard to untie.
  • Needs room and long ends.

Holding and untying

Holds well, even when jerked. After a strong pull it often stays stuck.

Suitable rope

Two ropes or cords of the same or almost the same thickness.

Common mistake

The two knots are wound against each other. Then they don't fit together.

How to check it

Both halves should look the same and lie snugly together.
